How to Get my Site Listed on Google – 6 Hacks

How to Get my Site Listed on Google - 6 HacksOne of the comments left on a recent post was from a fellow wanting to know, how to get my site listed on google ? I responded to his comment, asking if he meant ” how to get my website indexed in google” and he never did respond so I am assuming that is what he meant ?

Any way there are 6 hacks that I used to get my blog indexed and  get better rankings faster. In fact the last few blog posts I wrote were indexed withing a few hours of using my methods .

You certainly do not have to implement all of them but the more you do use the faster you will get a blog noticed.

Use List Based content

Have you ever noticed in Google search return that you always see titles like “My Top 12 Free Methods top Rank ” or “11 Online Part time Jobs From Home“. This is  list based content.

It seems to rank better in Google, so I recommend using this method a few times a month when writing content. Basically just format your topic, title and post in list form and you will be indexed faster than normal.

Use Internal Links

Google and Bing both favor a blog post or web page having internal links, and rightfully so. When people visit your page, you want to give them a method, other than using your menu to navigate to relevant content they may be interested in.

The best practice is to link a word phrase that will point your visitor and Google throughout your site. Search engines will reward you if you are doing this correctly.

Don’t just link to a post for the sake of adding a link to your page .  Say you write a post on “Raised bed gardening for beginners ” you could ink to an article say  “beginners gardening tips” because this would be relevant to search engines and visitors.

Use fetch as Google

How to Get my Site Listed on Google fetch as google If you have Google search console, and you should if it is only to verify the ownership of your site.

Google fetch enables you to submit an URL so it will be cued for indexing.

This way you do not have to wait until the next time Google crawls your site to find new content.

Basically what you are doing is giving Google a nudge, asking them to take a look at your new post.  While you are there you might as well submit your sitemap.

Use  a Amp results WordPress Plugin

AMP is a Google project that has been in the makings for a few years. I think it was started in 2016 and stands for Accelerated Mobile Pages.

I used to use the Jetpack wordpress plugin to accelerate load speed for mobile pages. Basically what the Amp results plugin does is simplify your page or post.

Mobile users will get your content fast because your content is stored and served to your visitor through the Google cache. We all know how load speed can effect indexing and rank when dealing with Google.

In my opinion not only does this help with getting your page or post indexed faster, it also helps with ranking your page on google.

Bing webmaster tools

Bing webmaster tools is pretty much the same as Google webmaster tools or Google search console, same thing. Approximately 15% of internet users are currently using Bing and or Yahoo as their search engine of choose.

Yahoo is not technically a search engine , but is a web platform that has a search engine and is powered by Bing .

Any way, the point is , passing up 15% of the search traffic would be silly to say the least. Submit your URLS to Bing webmaster tools because you want to get them indexed quicker, to be seen on Bing and Yahoo.

Posting to your Google plus account can dramatically speed up having your content indexed on Google almost immediately.

Sourced from MOZ

If you share new content on Google+, chances are that Google will index the page very quickly.

Rumor has it that new URLs are crawled almost instantly. This makes complete sense as part of the purpose of Google+ was to replace Twitter when creating Google’s Realtime Search.

In the old days, if you wanted a website indexed you filled out a web form and waited several weeks. Today, it’s as simple as pressing a +1 button.

Conclusion

It seems like a lot of extra work to implement these 6 hacks. Honestly after you have done it a few times it only takes a few minutes to complete. Try it and see the results,  your posts and pages will get indexed it Google search faster than ever imagined.

  1. Hi Rick and thanks for the great advice.

I do most of them, but the list based content is a great idea. I will have to try to remember to do that more often. I’ve written a couple like that in the past but didn’t realize it would help with ranking.

The only thing I need to look into is the AMP plugin. I have WP Rocket installed. Do you know if that has any AMP attributes?

    Thanks again,
    Suzanne

    • Hi Suzanne, i have not used Wp Rocket so I am not totally certain , I believe it is a a caching plugin , AMP is purely for mobile pages and posts , you can reallyy lighten up your mobile pages so they load super fast . Mobile users are way more picky than desk top users when it come to page load speed , I will be writing a post all about page load speed and the importance of it soon. To your success

  2. I could not agree with you more about your recommendation of list based content. It works quite well. As a blogger myself, it makes organizing my posts quite easy. I am still learning, but I am slowly getting the hang of it. People really do like their numbers.

I do have a question though. Besides using list based content, what other kinds of article titles really perk the interest of readers and make them want to click? I look forward to reading your response.

Thank you for sharing and I hope you make it a great day!

    • Hi Alex thank you for your comment, I personally do not like to use over inflated titles to engage people , When I see them online they feel Spammy to me . I believe in straight forward information and titles based mostly around key word phrases that match a persons search. I have been online for 5 -6 years now and have been over exposed to Over inflated titles , you can check out the warrior forum and warrior Plus if you want to see what I mean by that . I feel if you give people the exact information they are looking for and don’t over emphasize your titles , you will win an audience over time . I do try to use words in my title that lead into the message I am trying to get across such as ” 6 hacks” , “limited budget”, “exposed from an insider” ect.. People like to know an easy or simple method “Hack” , they also like to save money” Limited budget ” and they want to feel in information they are getting is true ” from an insider” especially when product reviews are the topic . Just my opinion , To Your Success !!

  3. The hacks you listed, especially AMP, will work perfectly with my WP based website for getting that mobile traffic loading faster.

As for ‘Fetch as Google,’ is that a better option than having my website set to daily crawling?

    • Hi Tina thank you for your comment , using Google fetch will speed up having your page or post index and seen in the Google search results faster than the daily crawl setting . think about it there are 100s of millions of websites that google crawls , just because you have set your crawl rate to daily ,doesn’t mean its going to happen ? Preforming a Fetch as Google you at least have the assurance that your post is in ” Que ” . Singning up for a Google + account and posting your new page or post there as soon as its live seems to really speed up the indexing speed. To your Success !!
